Update on the Healthcare Capacity Building Venture in Ghana/West Africa

To date we have $110k of committed capital toward the total $595k raise.  Our goal is to raise a minimum of $300k by 12/31 so we can begin construction on the 2nd & 3rd floors by early 2024.

SLCHS will equip and deploy missional African medical professionals to northern Ghana and the Sahel region (10 countries from Senegal to Sudan). Per IV’s research, the only long-term missional operators that can access the Sahel region are medical professionals, agriculture companies/related experts, and mining-related companies/engineers. As such, we strongly believe that SLCHS is a very strategic investment that will equip 150 African students annually to deploy 10%-15% of these graduates into the Sahel region.

Below are some key highlights as to how this venture has progressed since June when my wife and I first met Dr. John Oduro-Boateng in Ghana and heard his vision for SLCHS.

Some Key Updates & Highlights:

1. The Ghanaian advisory board and faculty team for SLCHS have been identified and cultivated and they are ready to begin work on contextualizing and modifying a US-based curriculum for the school. I met many of them on my last trip in August. All of them are deeply experienced Ghanaian physicians and medical professionals with 35+ years of practice.

2. SLCHS has developed a key partnership with a world-renowned Professor in based in the Netherlands who is a leading expert in cardiovascular diseases among Africans and African migrants in Europe.

3. Integra Ventures (IV) is finalizing the establishment of a Charity Fund for SLCHS with TrustBridge Global www.trustbridgeglobal.com and will soon be able to offer this investment opportunity to both US and non-US donors/investors. IV then plans to highlight SLCHS on their Giving Space site by year-end.  (https://lnkd.in/g-biHhAB)

4. I will be traveling down again to Ghana soon with the focus of this trip to conduct 20+ video interviews with staff & patients of St. Luke Hospital, the teaching hospital for SLCHS; to capture the lives of cross-cultural workers and medical professionals in Northern Ghana (representative of life and culture in the Sahel region); SLCHS prospective professors and medical students in Accra, the capital. (We hope to have 5 quality videos ready to share with the IV network by year-end)

If you have an interest in participating in this current venture being led by Integra Ventures or have others in your network that may have interest, please let me know. (NOTE that Integra Ventures will be working on multiple social venture capital deals in 2024 across our region of focus.)
